9 Rules for Surviving an Anime Convention  [Page 2]

2: Eat and hydrate

In high school, I barely ate at Animazement and survived off of pocky and other snacks from the dealers room. It’s not a good idea to do that. Make sure you have some money saved for food expenses. The food served in the convention center is really expensive so take note of other food establishments nearby, preferably within walking distance. McDonalds is always a safe bet for cheap food. It is also a good idea to bring snack foods with you to the con.

Drink water. Lots of water. Do not try to survive solely on sodas or energy drinks, especially if you are cosplaying in hot weather. That stuff will only dehydrate you. I served 14 months in Iraq, I know what it’s like to wear heavy shit in extreme heat and lots water is the only thing that will help keep you from passing out. Also make sure to hydrate before the dance. Every year someone ends up passing out at the dance and has to be sent to the hospital.

Don’t let it be you.

  • I review various video games, sometimes movies, and other nerdly things. I'm just some guy on the internet but take into consideration my opinion as I am trying to find out if these forms of entertainment are worth your time and money. I'm also the head editor for the gaming section of the site. The primary consoles I cover are Playstation 3, 3DS, and (hopefully soon) Playstation 4. All my articles.
