Ten Heartwarming Valentines Written by Kids — for Kids Fighting Cancer

This Valentine’s Day, rather than scurrying for the anticipated sugar rush of chocolate and frilly cards, I found a group of youth who wanted to spread the love to some of their peers who need it most: Children fighting terminal illnesses.

So we found a local group called Zach’s Toy Chest who distributes toys to children’s wards in hospitals and asked if we could send them a few Valentines, some friendship bracelets or stickers, and a little extra love.

What astounded me, however, was the amount of thoughtfulness and caring some of my students put into their cards. This wasn’t meaningless scrawl, another “boring class project” they have to do before they can play dodgeball. No. These children truly care.

So without further ado, here are some of the sweetest Valentine’s Day Cards you’ll ever read; from one child to another, and they’ve never even met.

I Hope You All Get Better!
I Hope You All Get Better!

Happy Valentine's Day. I care about you and I hope you feel well. God bless all of them. God, we rebuke all the sins that's inside them. God please help them. By the name of Jesus we pray, amen!

Valentine, Valentine, this day is so sweet. Because people get gifts and chocolates to eat. This day is the right time to show love and cheer. Sometimes you might see cupid near. Cupid is high in the sky. He shoots love arrows from above to make you love whoever you see. Valentine, Valentine, your Valentine could be a girl or boy. This holiday always, always shows some joy.

Give me a Smile!!!! That the best!

As a final thought for all of you readers — these Valentine’s were written mostly by kids ages eight to ten, who say “EWWWWW” if I ever bring up the word love or sharing. It’s spectacular, then, to see how deeply they care. I was inspired to see the true depth of their compassion, though showing such kindness and care is so often considered “uncool.”
