Brew School, Today’s Lesson: The Four Elements of Beer

Welcome to the Brew School! My name is Blaster Brewmaster, hobbyist homebrewer, video maker, and gamer extraordinaire, and we’re about to embark on a journey to making our own beer.

Today’s video covers an introduction to the four basic ingredients in beer: Water, Malted Barley, Hops, and Yeast:

  • Water, which composes our liquid base and is composition has a subtle but important effect on the beer’s taste.
  • Malted Barley, which produce starches we convert to sugar and exract with our water.
  • Hops, which acts as a bittering and flavor component as well as a preservative for our beer.
  • Yeast, which does the work of converting the sugars we extract from our barley into alcohol and turns our drink into beer.

So come join me as we take a journey into homebrewing and learn how to make great beer.

Next, be sure to check out my channel, where I produce videos throughout the week for your entertainment.
